i am head over heels in love with a man who was raised jw.
i believe he is fighting demons, however, and is torn between what his heart wants to do, his beliefs, his depression & lack of self confidence.
he has had 2 wives.
Possibilities:
1. He is a half-assed witness. Expect him to be unreliable in his convictions. The other wives may have known something you don't yet.
2. He will become an uber-dub and expect you to convert, submit and become a Stepford wife.
3. He is more mentally troubled than you think.
Running doesn't work? Then walk faster.

If you count the 7 years confined in that embassy, he did time for the sex charge. That is a lot of life wasted in that building. It's poetic justice. Now that he's out of there he will be caught in the world of political intrigue and the judicial systems of the nations. Should be fun.

It's ironic when you realize their exhortations to blindly trust the "brothers and sisters" leads to untold abuse, sexual, financial and mental. Truth on the march, unfortunately its marching on your face.

i really want friends and a boyfriend but i can’t have that because my parents are jw and i’m also homeschooled.
they are those jw parents that refuse to let me go to public school because of bad influences.
Take a deep breath and count the good things provided for you at this point. They house you, they feed you and believe it or not they love you and in their warped way have your interests in mind. SO, think how close to 18 you are. I assume that you do not have means to house & feed yourself. In that short time till you are 18 you can prepare for departure. Start saving money however little it may be, something is better than nothing. Trust me it will go faster than you think, then get to school and meet people to become friends and perhaps housemates. Cozy up to other "weak" kids in their late teens looking to escape as well. All the best.
i'm just so sad and i'm so angry at myself for believing and living a lie.
i hurt so many people in my family by becoming a jw....why didn't i listen to my sweet grandfather when he cried and begged me not to become a jw...i truly thought it was the truth...my grandfather cried...he was so hurt....my bible study teacher told me that satan would test me and my grandfather's pleas were my first test...he's gone now...years before i left the religion....i so wish that i could tell him that i am sorry and how very much i loved him...

Since the house in San Diego was sold they've been living on the streets out of shopping carts.
i have a funeral to attend for a non jw family member and the jdub family member reminded me that i should not wear black.
for the life of me, i can't recall where this belief came from in jw teachings and i'm born in.
is there something in print or is that just a personal opinion belief?
The reality today is that people show up in jeans, short pants and flip flops. There is seldom any fixed dress code these days. Witnesses tend to have nice suits etc so they are covered but non witnesses seem to dress in a way that comes across very disrespectful.
